Grae J. Wall & Los Chicos Muertos

Ex Trailer Trash Orchestra front-man Grae J Wall also records and performs with the moveable musical feast dubbed Los Chicos Muertos.

These outings mix Americana and folk-blues with a particular penchant for murder ballads, caustic skiffle and bar room melancholy. Grae J. regularly tours on the continent as well as being a stalwart of the UK Acoustica scene (previous band The Young Trash Lovers were the last ever act to perform at the legendary Bunjies Coffee House).

As an eternal troubadour Grae J's songs are also often inspired by his road trips, with narratives set in the motels of Bakersfield, the bar-rooms of Berlin and the back-streets of Paris. Grae and the band have performed at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Bestival and many more intimate festivals and venues across Europe.

Grae J and Los Chicos Muertos have shared the stage with inspirational characters including TV Smith, Patrik Fitzgerald, John Cooper Clarke and Jowe Head as well as backing Ed Tudorpole a few times on live renditions of Swords of a Thousand Men. Grae has also collaborated (along with the band) on the production of the acclaimed Knoxville Boy album with Knox (The Vibrators) . As well as Trashville releases  Grae J has contributed tracks to a number of compilation albums including tributes to Kevin Coyne and a self produced tribute to Nikki Sudden.

Recent album Quinze Petites Morts has received excellent reviews and airplay!

“For an album so packed with suicide, death and loss it seems to be almost celebratory, placing a massive grin on the listener’s face. Death loses its power, the Grim Reaper is dragged in, has a glass placed in his hand and is forced to join the party.” – RnR, *****

“Reminded me of the songs of Leonard Cohen” – Unicorn

"Top UK Americana band. Effortless authenticity." – Knox (The Vibrators)

‘Lorca and Hemmingway left a notebook behind in a pub on the Holloway Road. This is what it sounds like to be alive’' . ... and a little dead.’ – Steve Yarwood (Invisible Folk Club)

Los Chicos Muertos like to dance on the dark side. Mix some melancholy, a large helping of foot stomping & a sprinkle of punk attitude & you've a powerful receipe for a damm fine album..- Denise Parsons (Radio Verulam)

With initial recording attempts scuppered by the plague, Skull Puppets finally released their debut single in 2022. Recorded and produced by the wonderful Billy Lunn (The Subways), Hammer Man was a bold 5-minute gothic-garage-gospel-fuzzy-folk-tale statement of intent!

Here’s the Hammer Man video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMqRbAqVbJA

Skull Puppets are a garage band, that much is indisputable. They get together in a garage down the garden, hidden amidst the satellite shires, to make a cathartic noise and kick at the blues. They’d been chatting about getting together for a while, but sealed the deal over a toast at their dear friend’s funeral. Between these songs of darkness, fuzzy noise and voodoo charm they share wine and jokes, old times, new times, putting the world to rights. There’s history – of course there’s history; village punks, blocks circumvented, all-nighters, go-go-glam, crazy French bars and lost comrades – but now is now and never put off ‘til tomorrow…thud, howl, clang and breathe. Raise a glass to those that’s passed and climb aboard, we are Skull Puppets.
